Anthony Joshua may not have time to prepare for February, Daniel is looking for a new opponent
International Boxing Federation (IBF) allowed her heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KO) defend the title against Fabio Wardley in February, instead of a rematch with Anthony Joshua.
IBF President Daryl Peoples confirmed that Daniel could defend against any sufficiently rated boxer before April 22 when asked directly about Wardley. After that, Dubois must face a mandatory challenger or a unification bout with another heavyweight champion.
Dubois has a window in February for a stopover fight. Next, the Briton will have a mandatory defense, or a chance to fight with Alexander Usik for the title of absolute world champion. The International Boxing Federation (IBF) allowed Dubois to rematch Joshua until April 22, indicating that Daniel had the opportunity to fight for the undisputed title instead of a mandatory defense.
Frank Warren has stated that Dubois will fight next in early 2025. Daniel plans to decide on his next opponent by the end of October.
Let us remember that on September 21 in London, Dubois defeated Joshua. Daniel knocked down AJ three times and knocked out his opponent in the fifth round. Dubois defended the IBF title, which he received after Oleksandr Usyk abandoned it.
Fabio Wardley’s last fight was a TKO win over Frazier Clarke in October. The Briton retained the British, British Commonwealth and WBA Continental heavyweight belts.
