Russian freestyle wrestler Magomed Magomaev told that he wants to compete in the 2028 Olympic Games.
On Thursday, Magomaev lost to Georgian Avtandil Kenchadze in the final fight of the World Championships in non-Olympic weight categories, which took place in Tirana.
Magomaev, competing in the 79 kg category, was defeated by Kenchadze with a score of 4:13 and won silver.
— The tournament is organized at the highest level, but the result is not quite what I expected. I wanted to win gold, but the Georgian was stronger in the final. It was his day, I want to congratulate him. I hope to meet him soon and win. Now this is my main goal.
— Is it a shame that you weren’t allowed to participate in the Olympics?
– Certainly! People spend their whole lives preparing for it, fighting for it, and then all of a sudden they’re not allowed to participate. So much sweat and blood was shed for an Olympic medal…
My goal is to go to the Games in 2028. Every athlete has such a task,” Magomaev told .
Magomayev is 24 years old. He is a double world champion among athletes under 23. He also won gold medals in the BRICS Games and CIS Games.
The next Summer Olympics will take place in 2028 in Los Angeles.
