Russian boxer Vahid Abbasov was defeated by Luxembourg representative Michael King in the fight for the IBA European champion belt in the weight category up to 67 kg.
The eight-round match took place on Monday as part of the “OLIMPBET. Night of Champions IVA. Boxing on the Volga” in Samara. The fight lasted eight rounds; King, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, won by decision.
Abbasov fought his eighth fight in the professional ring and lost for the first time. At amateur level he represented Serbia. King has seven wins and two losses.
On the undercard, the representative of Uzbekistan, Muhammadjon Raufov, defeated the Russian Gor Tumanyan by technical knockout in the third round. Another Uzbek boxer, Nusratbek Tokhirov, defeated Russian Anton Zaitsev by split decision. Another Russian representative, Vadim Musaev, lost by split decision to Khavasbek Asadullaev of Uzbekistan. Russian Dzhambulat Bizhamov defeated Venezuelan Keibera Gonzalez Zapata by unanimous decision.
