The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has created a commission that will study the possibility of holding title fights in Russia, the deadline for making a decision will be one month, Sergei Khursanov, member of the WBO Board of Directors.

At the same time, he noted that Russian boxers, as before, remain in the WBO rankings and can challenge for the championship belts of this organization outside the country.

— At the 37th annual WBO convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Russian boxers were officially allowed to fight for WBO titles outside of Russia. Although this authorization existed before, it remained at an unofficial level. Russian boxers were and remain in the WBO rankings. Also at the convention the question of the return of WBO title fights to the territory of the Russian Federation was raised. A commission was created to examine this question; all parties will present their arguments, after which a decision will be made. The deadline for issuing a resolution is one month,” Khursanov told .

Previously, permission to hold title fights in Russia was granted by the WBA and IBF. Only the WBC maintains sanctions against Russian boxers, not including Russian athletes in the rankings and not allowing fights.
