Algerian Olympic boxing champion Iman Khelif is preparing legal action against media outlets that published information claiming she had male sexual characteristics, PA Sport reports, citing a representative of the International Olympic Committee (CIO ).

Earlier, The Correspondent published a medical report according to which the athlete was diagnosed with the absence of a uterus and ovaries, as well as the presence of testicles in the inguinal canal and a “micropenis”. Another test confirmed that Khelif carries a normal male karyotype of 46,XY. Following a hormonal study, the Algerian woman revealed a “typically male testosterone level” of 14.7 nmol/l, several times higher than the maximum testosterone level in women.

“We have information that Iman Khelif has taken legal action against people who commented on the situation around her during the Paris Olympics and is also preparing legal action in response to recent reports.

The IOC will not comment on the trial or media reports on unverified documents whose origin cannot be confirmed.

All athletes who competed in the boxing tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games complied with the eligibility rules and all applicable medical requirements adopted by the PBU boxing unit responsible for the Games. As in previous Olympic boxing competitions, the gender and age of the athletes were determined based on their passport data.
