Russian heavyweight Kirill Sidelnikov stated that he intends to continue his professional career, despite his appointment as sports director of the Ural FC league.
On Wednesday, during an event at the press center, Sidelnikov, a six-time world combat sambo champion, was introduced as the league sports director of FC Ural. In MMA, former Bellator fighter Sidelnikov, 36, has 15 wins and seven losses. Sidelnikov’s last fight took place in mid-October in Perm at the Ural FC 9 tournament, when he beat former PFL and Bellator fighter American Rakim Cleveland ahead of schedule.
— The entire sporting part of the league rests on my shoulders: drawing up the card, inviting the cutmen, appointing the judges, etc. I would like to thank Ural FC for this trust. For my part, I will do everything possible for the prosperity of the league. I have been playing sports for a long time, many moments are not new to me, but well known.
— Are you ending your career?
— If there are proposals, why not? I am ready to train and perform. In this regard, everything is fine.
— What do you think of the main fight of the Ural FC 9 tournament between Belarusian Vladislav Kovalev, nicknamed “Belaz” and Russian Vyacheslav Vasilevsky?
“I’m very interested in this rematch.” I have nothing to say about the judges of the first fight; they gave the victory to Vyacheslav (in the end, the Belaz team appealed and the result was canceled – “” note). But then I would draw. That’s my opinion. This revenge is therefore really relevant and will be one to follow. I will refrain from making predictions, but I will only say that both fighters are motivated and charged to the maximum. I am sure that a spectacular fight awaits us, ”reports the correspondent of , reporting Sidelnikov’s words.
