“It’s too much. Ramadan and pomegranates are completely incompatible things” – Khadulaev about the detention of commentator Rabadanov

Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Supervisory Commission of the Republic of Dagestan Shamil Khadulaev, in a conversation with , said that he was extremely surprised by the detention of commentator Ramazan Rabadanov and suggested that it could be related to the participation of the detainee in the case of riots at Makhachkala airport.

Sports commentator and public figure Ramazan Rabadanov was arrested last night in Makhachkala. Law enforcement representatives seized a grenade from Rabadanov and took him to the department for further investigation. Rabadanov became known as a commentator at wrestling and mixed martial arts tournaments and has recently become actively involved in social work, covering high-profile events in the republic on his social networks.

“To be honest, everyone is in shock, it’s too much for them to do this to him: where is Ramadan and where are the pomegranates, as they say.” His son says Ramazan said the grenade was put in his pocket. It seems to me that this is some kind of madness.

— Ramazan was a rather sharp blogger, he raised important issues related to the region. Do you make a link with his detention?

“From what I understand, the most notable thing at the moment was his participation in the so-called ‘airport affair’. At the same time, yes, he could criticize the authorities of the Republic of Dagestan and many others. But in general, the bulk of his work was in the airport sector. And I think that’s why everything happened.

— It seemed to me that he had adopted a neutral position and that he had definitively condemned the defeat as such?

– First, a lot of things about the defeat have been exaggerated. There is no real evidence that property was destroyed on a significant scale. I arrived at the airport. I then looked at what the airport looked like. And I asked to show what they had done so that there would be understanding. I also said there was a video of a crowd breaking into the airport. It appears that several doors were broken, it appears that the fence was demolished. They told me there didn’t seem to be any problems. But there was a lot of noise.

Second, there was conflicting information about who came there. Someone says they came, made noise and ran. But the position of human rights defenders is that individuals must be judged for what they have done within the framework of the legislation of the Russian Federation. Neither more nor less. If there is evidence, punish. If there are facts confirming that they did something illegal, so much the better. And Ramadan organized legal support in this context. All. It’s the law. After all, even if a person has no money, the state provides him with a lawyer.

Third, they had to ensure that, in principle, people would not gather there. Let them block the roads with armored personnel carriers if they knew that a crowd of people was going there.

— What were Ramazan Rabadanov’s immediate plans?

“He was going to go to Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories for court hearings in the coming days, literally today or tomorrow. These were his plans. Although I don’t know what purpose it would serve. Because from a legal point of view, he does not represent any of the parties to the conflict. And they didn’t let it happen there. I think I wanted to watch the trials. And he was closely involved in interactions with lawyers, in research and fundraising. I said to him myself: “Are you sure of this man’s innocence? So go ahead.” But he asked him to ensure that if a person, for example, fought with the police or engaged in other lawless acts, and there was evidence against him, then she would be judged according to law He said he examined the materials and carefully monitored whether there was anything serious in the materials, whether there was any specific texture on the person.

– Are you going to try to contact him?

— I am now in the Stavropol region, not Dagestan. The work is in progress, lawyers have already contacted me. Someone will be leaving soon; his house is searched. The court will soon decide whether he will be released or not. Tomorrow evening, we will know if he will be released or kept in detention. Because Ramadan and pomegranates are totally incompatible things. But the grenade has no serial number. You can put it in every person’s pocket, literally the same. Such figures will not work with weapons, but with grenades it is possible. Now the whole republic and even our neighbors are agitated. His second son is in the Northern Military District, he doesn’t understand how this is possible. He has a question: “While I was defending my homeland, they put a grenade in my father’s pocket. Is this normal? » Khadulaev told .
