The Ukrainian will fight with Jaron Ennis on November 9
Ukrainian Karen Chukhadzhyan (24-2, 13 KO) said that he was diligently preparing for the upcoming fight against the IBF welterweight title holder Jaron Ennis (32-0, 29 KO).
“I’m ready for Saturday night because we’ve worked so hard the last two years and gotten better every day. I’m going to show people my improvements.
“Of course I’m going to fight Ennis, you’re going to see a great fight. I’m here to be a world champion, I’ll prove it.”
The fight between Ennis and Chukhadzhyan will take place on November 9. The event will be hosted by the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Ennis’ hometown. Jaron will defend his IBF welterweight title.
Earlier it was reported that the American boxer was considering the option of giving up the IBF title and moving to a higher division. However, Jaron subsequently rejected this idea and agreed to fight Chukhajyan.
According to the 65%/35% prize split, Ennis should earn $1.3 million for the fight, while $700 thousand will go to his Ukrainian opponent.
Chukhajian had previously met with Ennis. This also happened in the USA, in January 2023. The American confidently won on points, all the judges gave each round to Jaron (three times 120:108).
In his last fight, Karen defeated Britain’s Harry Scarff in May 2024. All three judges recorded the advantage of the Ukrainian (three times 116:112).
Ennis defended his IBF title against Armenia’s David Avanesyan in July. After the knockdown, Avanesyan’s corner decided not to continue the fight between the fifth and sixth rounds.
