Boxer Vyacheslav Uzelkov died at the age of 45. He recently had a heart operation.

Ukrainian boxer Vyacheslav Uzelkov died at the age of 45. The press service of the Ukrainian Boxing Federation reported this on Sunday, November 9.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you that Ukrainian boxing has suffered a great loss – Vyacheslav Uzelkov died forever will remain in the history of the sport, and his example of strength, perseverance and dedication to his work inspire future generations,” the message said.

Not long after, Uzelkov had heart surgery and was in the rehabilitation phase.

Vyacheslav Uzelkov (born April 8, 1979, Vinnitsa) is a Ukrainian professional boxer, winner of the World and European Amateur Championships. He appeared in professional boxing in 2004, and in his first fight he defeated the Russian Suleiman Dzherilov.

Uzelkov ended his career in 2013 with his last fight losing to Serbian Geard Aetovich. After his boxing career, he became a TV presenter.

Uzelkov also tried himself as a politician. In 2020, he ran for mayor of Vinnitsa from the OPZZh party and lost the election, getting only 4% of the vote.
