The Ukrainian was defeated by unanimous decision
Ukrainian boxer Karen Chukhadzhyan (24-3, 13 KOs) commented on his fight against the IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs).
“I did my homework, but it wasn’t enough to beat him. I think he will become the absolute world champion. He’s too tough to be a welterweight. Compared to the first fight, I threw more punches, but I also took more punches.”
In the fifth round, the Ukrainian was knocked down, but was able to get up and continue the fight. In the tenth round, the judges deducted one point from Chukhadzhyan for illegal conduct of the fight.
The fight eventually lasted the entire intended distance of 12 rounds, and to determine the winner it was necessary to resort to the judges’ notes. All three referees unanimously gave the victory to Ennis: 119:107, 117:109, 116:110.
Let us remember that Chukhadzhyan had previously met with Ennis. The previous fight also took place in the USA in January 2023. The American confidently won on points, all the judges gave each round to Jaron (three times 120:108).
Chukhadzhyan’s liabilities now include three defeats in his professional career. Ennis, 27, remains undefeated in his third successful IBF title defense.
