The mentor believes that the Ukrainian deserved fights at the top level
Vyacheslav Senchenkotrainer of Ukrainian welterweight boxer Karen Chukhadzhyan (24-3, 13 KOs), said that he would like to see the Ukrainian WBC champion as his next opponent Mario Barrios or WBA belt holder Eimantas Stanionis.
“I read an interview with Karen, he said that he was ready to box with the strongest, and that’s right. Because if you have already risen to that level, into the 10 best fighters in the world in this category, then it is clear that you want to box with the top 10. You’re not interested in fighting the top 300, 200 or 100.”
“You want championship fights – that’s right, that’s cool. He has already reached that level and deserves it. With whom? This is not very important: Barrios, Stanionis, that is, if he comes out with the champions, then that’s great. If it’s a contender’s battle, that’s also not bad.”
Chukhajyan lost to IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis in his last fight. The fight lasted the entire intended distance of 12 rounds, and to determine the winner it was necessary to resort to the judges’ notes. All three referees unanimously gave the victory to Ennis: 119:107, 117:109, 116:110.
Let us remember that Chukhadzhyan had previously met with Ennis. The previous fight also took place in the USA in January 2023. The American confidently won on points, all judges gave each round to Jaron (three times 120:108).
Chukhadzhyan’s liabilities now include three defeats in his professional career. Ennis, 27, remains undefeated in his third successful IBF title defense.
