Coach Rafael Cordeiro, under whose leadership the former absolute world boxing champion Mike Tyson was preparing for a fight with Jake Paul, noted that he was proud of the 58-year-old boxer and the way he had trained in recent months.
On Friday, Tyson, 58, lost to Paul, 27, in an eight-round boxing match by unanimous decision. The fight took place in Arlington (USA).
“We worked seven months for this moment. I sincerely believed that victory would be ours before the battle. He never asked to give up. We are very proud of Mike, the way he trained for seven months, he put his life aside to train. Mike is the people’s champion. He has inspired many people outside the ring. The most important thing for Mike is to return home to his loved ones,” Cordeiro said according to the Mirror.
Tyson had his last official fight before the fight with Paul in 2005. In total, the ex-champion’s record includes 50 victories (44 by knockout) and seven defeats. He held the WBA, WBC and IBF belts. Paul, 27,’s boxing record stands at 11 wins and one loss.
