“Events like this help popularize boxing. I don’t see anything wrong” – Valuev on the fight between Tyson and Paul

Former world boxing champion and State Duma deputy Nikolai Valuev told that the fights resemble fights between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, helped popularize boxing.

On Friday, former undisputed heavyweight champion Tyson, 58, lost to Paul, 27, by unanimous decision in eight rounds. The fight took place in Arlington (USA). According to media reports, Paul’s fee will be $40 million and Tyson’s will be $20 million.

– It’s in high demand. People want to see fights like this that are more about show business. No one will seriously fight a man almost 60 years old. Athletes also earned money, not without it. But in general, such events popularize boxing. I don’t see anything wrong,” Valuev told .

Tyson had his last official fight before the fight with Paul in 2005. In total, the ex-champion’s record includes 50 victories (44 by knockout) and seven defeats. The 27-year-old Paul’s boxing statistics are 11 wins (7 by knockout) and one loss.
