Jake Paul said that during a fight with Mike Tyson I wanted to please the fans, so I didn’t give 100% during the fight.
On Friday, Paul, 27, defeated Tyson, 58, in an eight-round boxing match by unanimous decision. The fight took place in Arlington (USA).
“Two days ago I sprained my ankle and completely tore the ligament. I was on crutches for four or five days, and that only hindered the end of my training camp. I missed about two weeks of sparring.
I wanted to put on a show for the fans, but I didn’t want to cause damage where it wasn’t necessary. There was a moment when he (Tyson) didn’t respond, I realized his age was showing.
People love to hate me. I deliberately say things that people might hate. This is what I like to do. If people want to see more…give me a few months. I tried to show the best boxing. When someone is simply surviving in the ring, it’s hard to make the fight exciting. I don’t care what people say. It is what it is,” Paul said, as quoted by Mirror.
Tyson had his last official fight before the fight with Paul in 2005. In total, the former absolute world heavyweight champion has 50 victories (44 by knockout) and seven defeats. Paul, 27,’s boxing record stands at 11 wins and one loss.
