The 42-year-old fighter lost to UFC champion Jon Jones at UFC 309
Former MMA world champion Stipe Miocic (20-5, 15 KOs) announced his retirement from mixed martial arts.
“I finished. “I’m hanging up my gloves,” Stipe said after the fight with Jon Jones.
The 42-year-old fighter lost his last fight by technical knockout to Jones at the UFC 309 event. Stipe missed a kick, fell, after which John began to finish off his opponent. The referee eventually ended the fight early.
The American fighter of Croatian origin first won the heavyweight title in 2016, after which he defended it three times in a row, which is a UFC heavyweight record. Having lost to Daniel Cormier, Stipe regained the title in a rematch in 2019, and then defeated Cormier again in their third fight.
Miocic lost the championship in a rematch with Francis Ngannou in 2021. The fight with Jones was Stipe’s first since then.
