Russian kickboxers still cannot participate in international competitions held under the auspices of the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO), the organization’s press service told .
The Russian Kickboxing Federation (RFKR) received an official letter in November last year that WAKO planned to begin the procedure for excluding the federation from among its members. At the same time, the media reported earlier that another organization – the All-Russian Kickboxing Federation – managed to coordinate the participation of athletes with the Russian flag and other national symbols at the World Championships in Spain under the auspices of another international organization – the International Kickboxing Federation (WKF). Subsequently, the FKR denied reports of Russian participation in this tournament.
“The participation of Russian athletes in international kickboxing competitions under the auspices of WAKO is still prohibited,” the WAKO press service told .
