Former world heavyweight champion Martin knocked out 43-year-old McKinney

Charles successfully returned to the ring after a 16-month break

Former World Heavyweight Champion Charles Martin (30-4-1, 27 KO) triumphantly returned to the professional ring after a 16-month break.

At the Fox Theater (Redwood City, California), the 38-year-old American left no chance for his five-year-older compatriot Matthew McKinney (17-9-3, 13 KO).

The ex-champion’s opponent did not last even one round. Having driven his opponent into a corner, Charles launched a series of powerful blows. Matthew fell to the canvas and the referee started counting, but McKinney never got up.

Let us remember that Martin fought his previous fight in July 2023, losing by decision to Jared Anderson in the fight for the WBC–USNBC and WBO International titles.

Charles held the IBF heavyweight belt, winning the title in 2016. Already in his first defense, the American lost the belt to Anthony Joshua by knockout in the second round.
