Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrius Johnson assessed the chances Tom Aspinall in a unification fight against Jon Jones for the UFC heavyweight title.
“I think Tom Aspinall has the speed, athleticism and strength to pose problems for Jon Jones. Aspinall is still young and still improving, but he can beat Jones. And it’s cool that there’s at least someone who will fight Jon Jones and not be afraid,” Johnson said according to BJPenn.com.
Tom Aspinall holds interim UFC heavyweight title while resuming career Jon Jones on the night of November 17, he knocked out Stipe Miocic and, bypassing Aspinall, received the full title of heavyweight champion.
The UFC has yet to confirm the unification fight or strip Aspinall of the title.
Jones, 37, has 28 victories, one defeat and one fight declared invalid. Aspinall, 31, has 15 wins and three losses.
