President of the St. Petersburg Judo Federation and personal trainer of Inal Tasoev and Madina Taymazova Mikhail Rakhlin told that the appointment of Vitaly Makarov as head coach of the Russian judo team is a logical choice.
FDR announced Makarov’s nomination on Thursday. Previously, he was the director of the coaching staff of the Russian national team.
— The appointment of Vitaly Makarov is the most logical option. We were together for 16 years and for him it all became a life. He has experience not only as an athlete, but also as an organizer, public servant and leader. I evaluate this appointment positively, he is a real professional,” Rakhlin told .
Makarov won silver in the weight category up to 73 kg at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, and he also won gold, silver and bronze at the world championships.
