Devin doesn’t know the date of his next fight yet
World champion version WBC junior welterweight Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) returned to work with his former coach Mickey Beem.
“Oh yeah, I’m training him again. He already looks good and rested. I think he needed a little break because he hasn’t had any rest since he turned pro. He was stable – fight after fight. But I’m really impressed by what I’m seeing so far. He will be very sharp for his next fight,” Bey said.
“We don’t define my role. Basically, I coach him as a head coach, but his dad and I discuss everything every day – what role each of us will play, what we will work on. The chemistry was great. For now, we’ll just take our time as there is no official date for the fight. Devin doesn’t have any weight behind him; he can just train and enjoy life.”
It was previously reported that Haney could fight Teofimo Lopez in his next fight. The event, which is planned by the head of Top Rank Bob Arum, is going to be organized in 2025.
Haney fought his last fight in late April in Brooklyn against Ryan Garcia. Devin was knocked down three times during the fight. According to the judges’ notes, Ryan triumphed with scores of 114:110 and 115:109. Another judge recorded a draw (112:112).
At the end of May, it became known that Garcia failed a repeat doping test after his fight with Devin Haney. The second sample, like the first, showed a positive result for ostarine, a drug that is used to improve endurance performance. Therefore, Haney still remains undefeated in the professional ring, and the fight against Ryan Garcia was declared invalid.
