On January 10, Russian MMA fighter Timofey Nastyukhin will enter the ring of ONE Championship after a long break. At ONE Fight Night 27 in Bangkok, he will meet Ecuador’s Aaron Cañarte in a featherweight (65.4 kg) MMA fight. The fight will take place at the legendary Lumpini Stadium.
Nastyukhin, who debuted with ONE in 2014, became known for his aggressive style and impressive wins over Eduard Folayang and Eddie Alvarez. However, a series of injuries, including a broken tibia against Kotetsu Boku in 2016, as well as losses to Arslan Arslanaliev, Christian Lee and Zhang Lipeng, made fans doubt his return. The fight against Lipeng in October 2023 was the last for the Russian under the auspices of ONE. Now, years later, the 34-year-old representative of Team “Rat” once again enters the arena as part of the ONE Fight Night 27: Tang vs. Abdulaev card.
For his opponent, Aaron Cañarte, 27, this will be his third fight in ONE. Despite a successful start to his career with 10 victories and no defeats, the Ecuadorian lost twice: by KO against Akbar Abdullaev, who leads this card, and by unanimous decision against the Russian Shamil Gasanov. Cañarte must now rehabilitate himself and prove that he deserves to remain in the organization’s main team.
For Nastyukhin, this fight will be an opportunity to make a name for himself after a long break, and for Cañarte, a chance to strengthen his position on the international stage.
