Former UFC champion Conor McGregor said he would appeal the court’s decision, which found him guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl and ordered the fighter to pay him nearly 250,000 euros.
The guilty verdict was announced on Friday November 22. The civil complaint was filed by Nikita Ní Laimhín, seeking damages for assault, accusing McGregor of rape at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin on December 9, 2018.
— I will appeal today’s decision. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence.
Now I am with my family, focused on my future. “Thank you everyone for your support around the world,” McGregor wrote on the social network.
McGregor’s last UFC fight took place in July 2021, when he lost early to American Dustin Poirier. The Irish fighter has 22 wins and 6 losses in mixed martial arts; he previously held UFC championship belts in two weight classes.
