Russian wrestlers lost to the Iranian national team in a match held as part of the International Poddubny Wrestling League (PWL) tournament in Moscow.
Athletes from each team achieved five victories. The Iranians won the match thanks to the best additional indicators.
In the final fight of the day, Russian Shamil Musaev lost to two-time world champion and two-time Olympic medalist Amir Hossein Zahra in the weight category up to 125 kg.
As part of the Russian team, victories were won by Akhmed Idrisov (weight category up to 57 kg), Zaur Uguev (61 kg), Shamil Mamedov (65 kg), Kurban Shiraev (70 kg) and Zaurbek Sidakov (74 kg).
Magomed Magomaev, Ibragim Kadiev, Magomed Kurbanov and Bati-Maadyr Samdan lost in their fights.
Earlier, the Iranians also beat the Russians in a Greco-Roman wrestling match.
