The Ukrainian lost by unanimous decision
Ukrainian heavyweight Alexander Zakhozhy (19-1, 15 KOs) suffered the first defeat in his career, losing to a Kosovo boxer Labinot Jojai (20-0-1, 16 KOs) and lost the EBU European heavyweight title.
From the first rounds, the Ukrainian was not ready for his opponent’s actions. Alexander was able to knock down Jojai in the second round, but the Kosovo fighter quickly came back and took the initiative. The stranger had to act dirty, but it was not possible to save the situation. The Ukrainian missed many blows, and in the 10th round he was knocked down.
The visitor was able to hold out for all 12 rounds. The judges unanimously gave victory to the challenger – 116-110, 115-111 and 116-110.
Let us remind you that Alexander was supposed to fight with the Swiss boxer Arnold Grzherzhai. However, his opponent was injured and was unable to perform. A few days before the fight, Jojai was appointed as the Ukrainian’s opponent.
Zahozhiy was also previously part of former UFC champion Francis Ngannou’s training camp, helping him prepare for fights against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
