Stevenson: Lomachenko should retire if he doesn’t want to fight in big fights

The Ukrainian plans to return to the ring in 2025

WBC lightweight title holder Shakur Stevenson stated that the Ukrainian IBF and IBO world champion Vasily Lomachenko must retire because he avoids a fight with the American.

“Lomachenko scares me. Soft ass needs to retire if he doesn’t want to fight anymore big fights,” Shakur wrote.

In early August, during a boxing evening between Terence Crawford and Ismail Madrimov, a verbal altercation occurred between Lomachenko and Stevenson. Vasily said that Shakur “wants to use his name for money,” and the American responded by calling Vasily a “little bastard.”

Stevenson then said that Lomachenko had “failed.” Shakur believes that there is no point in the Ukrainian remaining in boxing if he does not fight top fighters like Gervonta Davis or Stevenson himself.

Let us remind you that Lomachenko interrupted negotiations for a fight with Gervonta Davis after deciding to take a break from his career. Vasily, who defeated George Kambosos by technical knockout in May, intends to rest for the rest of the season and return to the ring in 2025.
