American boxer Torres: In a rematch it will be easier for Usyk to become better than for Fury to change

The American prospect expects a good fight from both fighters

American heavyweight boxer Richard Torres (11-0, 10 KOs) considers the holder of the WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO titles Alexandra Usika (22-0, 14 KOs) favorite for the second fight with the former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

“Usyk clearly won the first fight, but it was still a close fight. Tyson did his job and I’m excited for the rematch. From an early age I was a Fury fan and tried to copy some of Usyk’s style. So I have sympathy for both fighters and am looking forward to a good fight.”

“I think Usyk now has a fight plan that he can improve even more. Fury needs to switch. What should he do? He needs to work more on his feet, box more, bring back the tricks he showed before.”

But I think it’s easier for Usyk to become better than for Tyson to change. So I’m leaning towards Usyk, but Fury is a heavyweight who has the punch. He can do what is required of him.”

Let us remember that on the night of May 18-19, Usik inflicted the first defeat in his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight.

At the end of October, the first press conference and duel of the boxers’ views took place in London. Usik appeared in public to the song “Ave Maria” in the extravagant image of the hero of the computer game series Hitman. Fury came out to the song “Barbie Girl.” The event was hosted by legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer.
