McGregor removed from video game after fighter convicted of rape

Conor McGregor was removed from the video game Hitman: World of Assassination after a jury found that an Irish man sexually assaulted a woman in a Dublin hotel. This was reported on the game’s account on the social network X.

Hitman: World of Assassination featured the voice and appearance of McGregor, and a mission featuring him was available in the game. However, after the court ruling, development company IO Interactive announced the immediate severance of all ties with the MMA fighter and removal of all game content with his participation.

A Dublin High Court jury on Friday found McGregor guilty and the athlete must pay his victim more than $250,000 in compensation. The civil complaint was filed by Nikita Ní Laimhín, seeking damages for assault, accusing McGregor of rape at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin on December 9, 2018. The Irishman later announced he would appeal the court decision.

McGregor’s last UFC fight took place in July 2021, when he lost early to American Dustin Poirier. The Irish fighter has 22 wins and 6 losses in mixed martial arts; he previously held UFC championship belts in two weight classes.
