Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor is no longer the face of Irish whiskey brand Proper No. Twelve. The manufacturer terminated its contract with the fighter convicted of sexual assault.
Earlier, the Irish Times reported that major Irish retail chains had refused to distribute products associated with the convicted athlete. McGregor was the face of the Proper No. Twelve brand since its inception in 2018.
“In the future, we do not plan to use Mr. McGregor’s name and likeness in brand marketing,” MMF-Fighting quotes a statement from company management.
On November 22, the High Court of Ireland found McGregor guilty of sexual assault and ordered him to pay 250,000 euros in compensation. McGregor avoided criminal charges because the case was filed as a civil case.
