Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whitaker has spoken about how his jaw, broken in a fight with Khamzat Chimaev .
The Chimaev-Whittaker fight took place on October 26 at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi. Chimaev won by choke in the first round and broke his opponent’s lower jaw.
“I had to remove the entire bottom row of teeth, and just as the doctors were removing them, they discovered a huge cyst. I’ve had tooth problems since I was 19 and it seems I’ve finally found the reason. So everything in life has a reason,” Whitaker said according to MMANews.
After Chimaev’s knockout, Whitaker had eight losses with 26 wins.
