In the repeated confrontation, Karen gives the advantage to her compatriot, but believes that the “Gypsy King” also has a chance
Ukrainian welterweight boxer Karen Chukhadzhyan assessed the chances of his compatriot, the current holder of the WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO titles Alexandra Usika (22-0, 14 KOs), in the upcoming rematch with the former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).
“I’ll give it 60/40 in favor of Usik. I’ll root for him, that’s why I’m betting on him. But overall, Fury has a chance. He showed in the first fight that he can do it. The only question is whether he can fight the entire second fight the way he boxed in rounds 5-6 of the first fight.”
“I think it’s a matter of focus. Neither one nor the other has problems with endurance. And Usyk moves a lot, throws a lot of punches. And Fury is also very agile, for such a big guy.”
“I think this is more a question of psychology. After all, psychologically Alexander defeated him in the first confrontation even before the fight – he got into his head.”
Let us remember that on the night of May 18-19, Usik inflicted the first defeat in his professional career on Tyson in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option.
The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight.
At the end of October, the first press conference and duel of the boxers’ views took place in London. Usik appeared in public to the song “Ave Maria” in the extravagant image of the hero of the computer game series Hitman. Fury came out to the song “Barbie Girl.” The event was hosted by legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer.
