Shlemenko – about the conflict with Mineev: “We talked and each of us went our own way”

Alexander Shlemenko explained to how the conflict with Vladimir Minev which began after the AMC Fight Nights fighter repeatedly challenged him through interviews and on social media.

Current AMC Fight Nights league champion Vladimir Mineev repeatedly challenged former Bellator champion Shlemenko to a fight in 2015-2016, among other things mentioning the doping scandal involving Shlemenko after the fight with Melvin Manhoef. Currently, the fighters perform in different organizations, but have repeatedly spoken about a possible fight between them. Shlemenko spent his last seven fights in the SFC and RCC leagues, Mineev has not participated in MMA competitions since October 2021, fighting according to the rules of boxing and kickboxing. On December 14, Shlemenko will meet Anatoly Tokov.

— Why do you think the fight between Shlemenko and Mineev is a stronger sign than the fight between Shlemenko and Tokov?

— Vladimir Mineev is much more famous than Tokov. Exactly a lot. He has just experienced one of his biggest fights against Magomed Ismailov. This event attracted a lot of attention. And now I think the fight against Mineev will turn out to be even brighter than our possible fight against Magomed Ismailov. Maybe…I’m just guessing. As for Anatoly Tokov, listen to his interview, he has some kind of unique ability when you begin to think that it is better for a person to be silent than to speak. He begins to speak – the North Stand leaves. That is, he says absurd things and doesn’t want to admit later that he was wrong. It’s better for him to keep silent.

— You said that respect was important to you before the fight, but at the beginning you and Vladimir Mineev had very heated dialogues in the press. Have you changed your opinion about him in any way since 2016-2017?

“Then he boldly called for a fight, then we talked to him, and Kamil (Gadzhiev, head of the AMC Fight Nights league – editor’s note) took part in our negotiations. And a situation arose when each of us simply followed his own way and we were left with nothing to share The tension went away, maybe he changed somewhere And he no longer said anything disrespectful to me, ”Shlemenko told .
