Number one in the UFC lightweight rankings Arman Tsarukyan awaits his fight against Islam Makhacheva will take place in January.
Russian Makhachev is the current lightweight champion of the organization and the absolute leader in the non-category rankings. On January 18, the UFC 311 tournament will take place in Los Angeles, the main event of which should be the fight between Makhachev and Tsarukyan.
“My manager said we would have a title battle early next year. I’m excited and I hope the fight will be officially announced within a week,” Tsarukyan said in an interview with TNT Sports.
Tsarukyan met Makhachev in 2019 at the UFC tournament in St. Petersburg. Then Makhachev won by unanimous decision.
