Ukrainian boxer returned to the US and wants to fight for the absolute championship
Former world champion in three divisions Vasily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) commented on his arrival in the US and his immediate plans.
“I was ready for this moment and I need this chance. I need this fight. Fight for the absolute championship.
Lomachenko also shared his thoughts on the war in Ukraine.
“Every day I pray for Ukraine, for the people. Stop the war. When I returned to Ukraine, I think it was the second day of the war, the consciousness changed, because you see a different life. No one could understand what happened that day. This is very bad for the whole world,” Lomachenko said.
Recall that Lomachenko and Jemaine Ortiz agreed to fight in the lightweight division. The fight is scheduled for the end of October.
Earlier, Tod DuBoeuf, president of Top Rank promotion company, confirmed that Lomachenko would return to the ring in the fall.
Lomachenko fought his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. Subsequently, Lomachenko could fight George Kambosos, but pulled out against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
