Usyk: Ukrainians will see my fight for free, because the money needs to be spent on the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The boxer believes that the fight is of great motivational importance for the country

WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) said that he bought the rights to broadcast the rematch with Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) to prevent Ukrainians from spending the money they need to defend the country.

“It is very important for me to show the fight with Joshua for free. My Ukrainian people should see this fight for free. We are at war, and we have where to spend money – to help the Armed Forces and people who need this help.

“So free broadcasting for the Ukrainian people is very important. The money that people could spend on buying a broadcast, they can use to help someone.”

“I think this fight is a great motivation for my people, my children, my wife, my team.”

Earlier, Usyk said that the upcoming rematch with Joshua will not be an easy task for him, despite the fact that the Ukrainian will enter the ring as a champion.

The second fight between Usyk and Joshua will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.

In Ukraine, the rematch between Usyk and Joshua will be broadcast by the MEGOGO media service and the 2+2 TV channel. Oleksandr personally purchased the rights to broadcast his fight with AJ in order to transfer them to Ukrainian broadcasters for free.

Last fall, Usyk defeated Joshua by unanimous decision to become world heavyweight champion for the first time.
