Oleksandr Usyk defeated the British Antoine Joshua in the fight for the WBA Super, WBO, IBF and IBO Super heavyweight title by split decision.
After the fight, an enraged Joshua approached Usyk first and questioned his victory, saying “How did you beat me?”. Then the Briton grabbed the microphone and addressed the audience. In his rather odd speech, he said he was not a 12-round fighter and considered himself a knockout.
Joshua then apologized for his behavior in the ring.
“It just came from the heart. I was angry with myself. There was a small crack in the armor tonight when I was defeated. But let’s not forget the champion. He delivered a phenomenal performance. So give him credit. I don’t remember what I said in the ring, but I just want to say thank you to him for being part of a great historic fight,” Joshua said.
In September of last year, Usyk won four championship belts from Joshua, winning a unanimous decision after the results of twelve rounds.
