In case of victory, Vasily can count on a fight against Devin Haney or George Kambosos
A duel between the ex-world champion in three divisions Vasily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) and Jemaine Ortiz (16-0-1, 8 KOs) officially rescheduled for October 29th. The fight will take place at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York.
Initially, the fight was scheduled to take place on October 22, but a more convenient date for the card has appeared. Artur Beterbiev has rescheduled his mandatory WBO title defense with Anthony Yarde due to injury to early 2023. Thus, the duel of the Ukrainian will be the main event of the evening in New York.
If Lomachenko wins, he can look forward to a meeting with the winner of the rematch between the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) and ex-champion George Kambosos Jr. (20-1, 10 KOs). The second fight between Haney and Kambosos is scheduled for October 16 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
Lomachenko fought his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. Subsequently, Vasily could fight George Kambosos, but refused it against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In the last fight, 26-year-old Ortiz defeated Jamel Herring via unanimous decision.
