The American told how you can defeat the Ukrainian
Former World Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz (34-2, 22 KOs) commented on the victory of the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) over Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs).
Ruiz would also like to fight Usyk in the future.
“Perhaps Joshua needs a little break from boxing. Maybe he needs some rest, like me, and focus on the future and his life. Believe me, he can become a champion again.”
“Usyk is a great guy, he has a high class, and he is also a great champion. We’d have an amazing fight with him.”
“I think to beat Usyk you need a Mexican style. You should step forward and just throw your combos. Do not be scared. If you miss, you still have to do it, come forward and apply constant pressure.”
“I feel like this is exactly what Anthony Joshua should have done. He needed Mexican style and pressure, especially because he’s bigger. But I take my hat off to Usyk because I knew he would win again.”
Previously, Ruiz said that Usyk will beat Joshua if he does not make mistakes in preparation.
In 2019, Ruiz sensationally defeated Joshua by technical knockout, taking away the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles from the British. Anthony won the rematch by unanimous decision.
Ruiz’s next fight will be against Luis Ortiz on September 4 in Los Angeles.
Usyk defeated Joshua in a split decision rematch. The Ukrainian challenged Tyson Fury and preparations for their unification fight have already begun.
