Usyk-Fury fight to be held in December in Saudi Arabia
Head of Top Rank Bob Arum announced that the fight between the WBC champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) and WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight title holder Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) will be the biggest fight since the fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
“Top Rank and our co-promoter, Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, are looking forward to having the biggest heavyweight title fight since Ali fought Frazier-Fury vs. Usyk.”
Recall that Ali and Frazier had a three-match confrontation. Their most famous third fight took place in 1975 in Manila and ended with Ali’s victory.
Earlier, Frank Warren said that a very large honorary fund is needed to organize the unification fight between Usyk and Fury.
Prior to this, Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krasyuk, denied that the fight with Fury would be held on December 17 in Saudi Arabia. According to him, negotiations are ongoing.
According to the Daily Mail, the venue for the fight will be the capital of Saudi Arabia – Riyadh. The total honorary fund is 125 million pounds. They want to fight on the eve of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar.
Immediately after the rematch victory over Anthony Joshua Usyk called Fury to fight. Following the results of all twelve rounds, Usyk defeated Joshua by a split decision of the judges.
