Hearn: Joshua ditched belts because he was frustrated with the system

Anthony was overwhelmed with emotion

Promoter Eddie Hearn explained the scandalous actions of the ex-world champion Anthony Joshua after the rematch with the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk. Recall that the Briton threw two championship belts out of the ring.

“He held these belts for a long time and the governing bodies took a lot of money from him and put a lot of obligations on him. I think he’s lost a lot of faith in the system. He’s not that interested in belt fights anymore. I think he just wants to fight for fun and challenge himself.”

“It was a big disappointment. He left the ring, afraid to do something stupid. But he forced himself to go back and made a speech. But it was only pure emotion. It was just from the heart.”

Joshua apologized for his action after the fight, saying that extra emotions broke him. Anthony called Usyk a “phenomenal talent” and admitted defeat.

Following the results of all twelve rounds, Usyk defeated Joshua by a split decision: 115-113, 116-112 and 113-115.

The Ukrainian won the twentieth victory in the professional ring. For Joshua, the second loss to Usyk was the third in his career.

Recall that the first fight between Usyk and Joshua took place in the fall of 2021. Then the Ukrainian defeated the Briton by unanimous decision and became the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion for the first time.
