Oleksandr Usyk is one step away from maximum greatness
WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usykdefeating the former title holder on August 20 in Jeddah in a rematch Anthony Joshua, won The Ring belt, setting several unique achievements. Sport Arena leads three new facts proving the greatness of a Ukrainian.
The first. Oleksandr Usyk became the first boxer in the world to win The Ring heavyweight and heavyweight titles. Before the Ukrainian, the American Evander Holyfield could boast of such an achievement, who became the first boxer who managed to win the title of absolute world champion in heavyweight and heavyweight, but at the time of his triumph in the Royal Division, The Ring belt was not awarded.
Second. Oleksandr Usyk, after defeating Joshua, for the first time topped The Ring’s ranking of the best boxers in the world, regardless of weight categories.
Third. Oleksandr Usyk became the first heavyweight to top The Ring’s list of the world’s best boxers regardless of weight class since Mike Tyson, who reigned in professional boxing over 30 years ago.
Usyk has already secured a place in the Boxing Hall of Fame, but Alexander is one victory short of full greatness – namely, the victory over the current WBA world champion Tyson Fury. Winning against the Gypsy King will elevate the Ukrainian to the pantheon of the best boxers in history.
