Kazakh fighter Sergei Morozov will perform on the UFC tournament card in a fight against American Jorney Newson, according to the MMA Junkie portal.
The fight will take place on December 17 in the bantamweight division of the tournament, the location of which has yet to be announced.
Morozov, 33 (18-5 in MMA, 2-2 in UFC) in his last fight, which took place in June in Las Vegas, defeated Brazilian Raulian Paiva by unanimous decision. The representative of Kazakhstan is a three-time winner of the World Mixed Martial Arts Championships (silver in 2015, bronze in 2012 and 2014), as well as Asian champion in pankration.
As for Newson (10-3, 1-2 in the UFC), the 33-year-old fighter was also stronger than Fernie Garcia by unanimous decision in May, it was the first victory for an American in the UFC. Earlier in 2020, Newson knocked out Domingo Pilante under the organization’s auspices, but the fight was later declared invalid – traces of marijuana were found in the athlete’s test.
