Arum: If Lomachenko beats Ortiz, we’ll have him fight Haney early next year

Ukrainian boxer will return to the ring on October 29

Promoter Bob Arum promises to arrange a fight between the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney and Vasily Lomachenko.

“Devin has an added incentive to beat Kambosos again because he heard the news that one of my favorite fighters, Vasily Lomachenko, has returned to the US and his entire family has left Ukraine.”

“Vasily will fight a week or two weeks after the Haney fight. I hope it will be in Madison Square Garden in New York, where we will give great respect to the Ukrainian people. He will fight Jamaine Ortiz, who is a good, strong lightweight.”

“If Lomachenko succeeds, then at the beginning of the year we will have a massive battle – Lomachenko will try to regain all his titles against Devin Haney.”

The Ukrainian boxer will return to the ring on October 29. Lomachenko’s fight with Jamaine Ortiz will take place at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York.

Arum has already expressed his desire to organize a fight between Vasily and undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney. The American will rematch ex-champ George Kambosos Jr on October 16 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Lomachenko fought his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. Subsequently, Vasily could fight Kambosos, but refused it against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
