Close friend Antoine Joshua Michael Jarman felt that the controversial low blow against Oleksandr Usyk became the defining moment of the whole fight.
The British boxer’s childhood friend focused on Joshua’s body shot in the fifth round. The blow was recognized below the belt and the Ukrainian had time to recover.
– I didn’t need to watch the last three rounds, because Usyk completely won them. So maybe 115-113 was the right score. But a low blow in the fifth round… Usyk had 25 seconds to recover. If you watch it in slow motion and see where the knuckles hit, it was a pure hit. In this case, the set ends 10-8 for Joshua. Then the judge, who scored the fight 115-113 in favor of Usyk, should give Joshua 114-113, and he wins by split decision,” talkSPORT quotes Jarman.
Last week Ukrainian boxer Usyk defeated Joshua in a rematch for the WBA Super, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight title. The fight went through 12 rounds, after which Usyk won by split decision – 113-115, 115-113, 116-112.
