World Championship Bronze Medalist, European Boxing Champion Daria Abramova I am sure that I will remember my participation in the first All-Russian Spartakiad in summer sports for the rest of my life.
Abramova reached the final of the Spartakiad in the weight category up to 57 kg.
– The Spartakiad is a high-level competition, no less than the Russian Championship. That’s for sure. There are even comparisons with the World Cup. But Russian athletes participate in the Spartakiad, and you know your opponents, so I compare this tournament with the national championship.
It’s an honor for me to play for Spartakiad. For me it is the first time, although I have performed for many years, an old warrior in the national team. I think Spartakiad will be remembered for a lifetime. These are not tournaments, even international ones. It’s the All-Russian Spartakiad! And speaking there is a great honor,” Abramova told reporters.
– How do you motivate yourself to continue to perform in the absence of international competitions?
– We have a good salary in the national team. It’s our job. It is not just a hobby, but a favorite job for which you earn money. That’s all the motivation. There is good funding. I can speak on behalf of my federation from the Tula region and the Russian team. Scholarships, good cash prizes… All this motivates, encourages us to train more and expect us to perform at the World Championships and the Olympic Games. We pray and believe.
