The current champion of Russia and participant of the 2021 World Championship, Russian boxer Eduard Savvin called the All-Russian Spartakiad the strongest, serious and grand competition.
Savvin on Friday reached the final of the Spartakiad tournament in the weight up to 57 kg.
– Last year, I took part in the Spartakiad among young people, but the level was easier. This year we gathered the eight strongest boxers in the weight category, that is, those who usually fight in the semifinals and finals of the Russian championship. The Spartakiad’s status is felt in terms of serious competition and scale. It is an unusual and grandiose event for which the athletes prepare seriously. We came to box at one of the main competitions in the country.
I consider the Spartakiade as a stage of preparation for the Russian championship in order to test my strength and fight with opponents that we will meet at the championship in Chita. My main motivation for continuing my career is to keep myself in shape, and everything will be fine soon, Savvin told reporters.
The Russian Men’s Boxing Championship will be held from September 30 to October 8 in Chita.
