Boxer Edmond Khudoyan, Russian champion and participant in the 2021 World Championship, admitted that he plans to participate in the Spartakiad as a preparation for the Russian Championship in Chita, but at the same time he wants to win these competitions.
On Wednesday, Khudoyan overcame the quarter-final stage of the Spartakiad in the weight category up to 51 kg.
– The strongest boxers participate in the Spartakiad. From the first round, you have to be confident, agree and win, there is no passing fight. The atmosphere is good, friends and the coach help. I consider the Spartakiad as a preparation and a rehearsal for the Russian championship, because we have to fight with the same opponents in Chita.
It was interesting to change the weight, to try myself. At the Chita tournament, I plan to play in my usual weight category – up to 48 kg.
In the quarter-finals of the Spartakiad, he met an opponent (Shamil Kotlubaev), with whom he competed several times, and won against him in the championship in Kemerovo. I would like to add to the treasury of achievements the victory in the Spartakiad, to try my hand at a duel with the winner of the world championship Akhtem Zakirov, ”Khudoyan told reporters.
The Russian Championship in Chita will take place from September 30 to October 8.
