Robert Garcia: Joshua said he wants to fight ASAP because he doesn’t want to be seen as a loser

The Briton lost twice to Usyk

Trainer Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) – Robert Garcia spoke about the desire of the British to return as soon as possible after the defeat in the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).

“Eddie Hearn came into the room to be with us and what I liked was that Anthony quickly told him that he wanted to fight again and he wanted to do it as soon as possible. He told Hearn that he wanted to fight in November. Hearn replied that he could arrange the fight for December instead of November. But Anthony said he wanted to fight as soon as possible because he didn’t want to be seen as a loser. He said he wants to come back quickly and win.”

“That was what I liked about him. Usually after a tough fight like this, a fighter wants to take four, five or six months off without doing anything. And then resume training for the fight eight or ten months later. Anthony wants to fight again in November and Hearn wants to fight in December. I think December is better. For me, this is the act of a great warrior. I liked that he thought so. If the fight is in December, then there is not much time left, only four months. He can rest for a couple of weeks, but we will continue to train and by December we will be in better shape.”

Recall that on August 20, Joshua lost by a split decision to the Ukrainian boxer, WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

The first duel between Usyk and Joshua took place in the fall of 2021. Then the Ukrainian defeated the Briton by unanimous decision and became the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion for the first time.

Joshua is ready to return to the ring this year with any opponent. Briton promoter Eddie Hearn announced his readiness to arrange a fight for Anthony in November-December, and also expressed confidence in Joshua’s three or four fights in 2023.
