Athletistic/ MMA. Alex Pereira, a 35-year-old Brazilian mixed martial artist and former kickboxer, admitted he drank a lot of alcohol a few years ago and considered it the norm.
“At 21, I was lost, I drank a liter of alcohol a day. It was a kind of ritual. Before noon, I drank three glasses of cachaça (Brazilian alcoholic drink – approx. Athletistic) At 10, 11 and 12. I used to like beer, but I didn’t have the money for it. Until recently, I was ashamed to talk about it. But now I see the need for it. Many people suffer from alcohol and drug problems. They can find salvation in sport. It doesn’t matter, kickboxing will be MMA or football,” Sport24 Pereira quotes in reference to Fabricio Werdum’s podcast.
Alex Pereira has fought 40 professional kickboxing fights from 2012 to 2021. His statistics in this sport are 33 wins (including 21 wins by KO), 7 losses, 0 draws. On June 17, 2017, Pereira defeated fellow countryman Marcelo de Souza Cruz in a boxing bout by first-round TKO. This fight is the only boxing match of Alex’s career.
Since 2015 he performs in mixed martial arts, since 2021 he is a UFC promotion fighter. Pereira’s MMA stats are 6 wins, 1 loss, 0 draw. The Brazilian has won 5 out of 6 in mixed martial arts by knockout.
