Andy knocked down his opponent three times
Former World Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz won Luis Ortiz unanimous decision of the judges.
The fight took place in Los Angeles. Ruiz managed to knock down Ortiz three times – twice in the second round and again in the seventh, but most of the fight was held in an equal fight.
After the end of the fight, all the judges gave the victory to Ruiz 113-112, 114-111 and 114-111.
Previously, Ruiz said that the fight with Ortiz is necessary in order to prepare a summary for fights at the highest level. The Cuban is in the top ten, and thus the American hopes to achieve top-level fights, including the holder of the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles Oleksandr Usyk.
The fight with Ortiz was Ruiz’s first in 15 months. Last May, Andy defeated Chris Arreola via unanimous decision.
Ortiz last fought in January 2022, defeating Charles Martin by TKO in the sixth round. Louis is a former WBC heavyweight title challenger. In the championship fights, the Cuban lost twice to Deontay Wilder.
