Make money while WBA champion don’t mind
WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) stated that he was not interested in a second fight with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. In the contract of their first fight, a rematch clause was spelled out.
“Maybe this is the right decision for him and the right decision for his team. He had a deal with Golovkin before my fight. It makes sense for business.
For me, this is normal. I have my own path. I defeated him and now I’m glad that I can move forward. I don’t want this rematch with Canelo. Maybe to make money, but fighting him again is not my main goal.
I don’t know if there will be a rematch. As long as it doesn’t matter. I’m focused on Zurdo. He is a dangerous opponent and I must defeat him. But why not! If he wants it, we can make a deal.”
In May, Bivol won the first fight with Canelo. Dmitry extended his unbeaten streak in the professional ring to 20 wins in a row.
Dmitry will defend his WBA title on November 5 against Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs), who represents Mexico. The fight will take place in Abu Dhabi at the Etihad Arena and will be broadcast on the DAZN streaming service.
